NIGER GUBER TRIBUNAL WARN PARTIES: DESIST FROM UNNECESSARY TECHNICAL DELAYS, ADJOURNMENTS

The Niger gubernatorial election petition tribunal has warned all parties to desist from unnecessary delays and adjournment so as to enable it round up within the 180 days stipulated for its sittings. The charge was contained in a speech by the chairman of the tribunal, Hon. Justice J. Igboji, at the Inaugural sitting held at the high Court complex in Minna on Wednesday.

The Chairman said “we urge all parties to desist from all unnecessary tecgnucal delays, adjournm

ents, and other forms of distractions to enable us dispose all the petitions within the stipulated period”

The chairman also disclosed that the tribunal received three petitions and one was later withdrawn leaving them with two.

The tribunal shall sit everyday from 9 am including public holidays and as otherwise directed by the tribunal. The tribunal has three members.

The three pettitions filed are PDP, 1 other Vs APC, 2 others and PDM, 1 other Vs APC, 2 others, while APP withdrew its petition.
