Man Stabs Chief Imam to death in Niger

A middle aged man, Adamu Jibrin is alleged to have stabbed the Chief Imam, Attahiru Alhassan of Enagi, local Government Headquarters of Edati of Niger State to death.

The young man according to a source who spoke with Nigerwatch Newspaper, said, the suspect went to the chief Imam’s house to inform him that visitors were around to see him outside, he then led the chief Imam to the back of his own and stabbed him several times and also hit him with a wood before running and leaving the Imam to die there.

The source added that Adamu was traced and arrested in the neighboring village of Batati.

Also a source said the imam facilitated the marriage of Baba Adamu to one of his two wives, and the Imam has always been a mediator between Adamu and wife, but suddenly Adamu began to suspect the Imam of having an affair with the wife he helped to marry, this the source said is the reason Adamu got angry and killed the Imam.

Efforts to reach the Niger state police command was not successful as calls to the force Public relations officer, Wasiu Abiodun was not unanswered.

The Chief Imam is to be buried at 2pm on Tuesday.
