Ahead of the 2019 elections, Former Chief Staff to Ex Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Nasko, yesterday 25 August, formally expressed his intention to contest for the governorship seat of Niger State under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Nasko and thousands of his supporters were at the PDP secretariat in Minna where he personally presented his letter of intent to the state party executives.
He also unveiled his manifesto – copies of which were available in English, Hausa, Gbagyi, and Nupe.
He admonished his campaign team to avoid campaign of calumny, but stressed that they must give their best to ensure victory.
Nasko said he will form a government of unity irrespective of tribal or political affiliation. “l will pursue a wholesome people oriented agenda leaving it for the people to determine how they want the state funds to be spent.”
He further highlight what he will do for the youths, He said ” I’ll work with the youth because they have the zeal, energy and are eager to get the experience. When asked what are the things he will look out for when picking a deputy? He said “I have not decided yet but I’ll consider tribal, religious and competence.”
Responding, the state PDP Chairman, Tanko Beji, described Nasko as a youth leader.
Beji assured that the PDP would provide the enabling playing ground for all members and all campaign platforms especially the social media to refrain from hate speech.
