The Niger state police command has ordered a stop to the scheduled PDP rally in kontagora local Government Area.
The order was communicated to PDP Zonal chairman C.
The police cited security challenges which the PDP has since debunked as force alarm, rather an effort to muscle opposition.
Nigerwatch Newspaper spoke with Niger state police command, force PRO, ASP Muhammad D/Inna Abubakar, who corroborated the police position on the order, stopping the rally, on further enquiry, whether the order was temporary or infinite, he said “until it is appropriate”
Meanwhile the People’s democratic Party has addressed a press conference condemning the action of the police as an attempt at muscling the opposition, saying if the security situation in the state is not conducive, the the ruling APC should also not be allowed to hold its congresses in the state, because Congresses are also political event just like rallies.
