The Niger state government has written to the State Assembly to pass a resolution allowing it to take a 21.5 billion Naira sukuk bond.
The request was contained in an eight paragraph letter signed by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and exclusively obtained by Nigewatch Newspaper.
The Governor Highlighted som5of the Areas the bond would be utilized upon as road projects, healthcare services, industrial parks, Mining city and markets.
But in a swift reaction major opposition political parties rejected the idea of the bond saying what has the funds accruing to the state in the past used for?
Alhaji Tanimu Kwanba of the Action Democratic Party, said 481 billion Naira has accrued to the state for 2016 and 2017 and nothing to show but they are still going for loan, that is the destruction of the future of our youth.
Also Engr. Abubakar Gwada of the Peoples Democratic Movement, said, what have they done with the 11 billion Naira raised for water projects? how many communities have they given water? let them explain, so this one is a complete fraud, Nigerlites should turn against any bad governance, it is a complete failure of APC leadership and we are totally against it.
