NIGER PDP CONGRESS POSTPONED, AS FORMER REP MEMBER WAS BEATEN FOR HOARDING DELEGATES’ TAG

The Niger State people’s Democratic Party Congresses scheduled to hold Saturday, 12th September, 2020 in Minna, has been postponed as Former Deputy House leader, Honorable Baba Shehu Agaei was Manhandle by some delegates who accused him of hoarding Delegate tags of his Agaie Local Government instead of giving them to the party chairman for distribution to the delegates, Baba Shehu was immediately whisked to safety in a police vehicle.

The postponement was made known through a short statement from the electoral committee chairman, Mohammed Imam.

Imam said, “Due to uncertain security situation at the PDP state Secretariat, Venue of the rescheduled State Congress, the Congress stated for today , 12th day of September, 2020 has been postponed”

The Chairman said “the Committee will report back to the National Working Committee which would determine the next line of action in accordance with the Constitution of the party”

Nigerwatch Newspaper Reports says, Security was very tight and well coordinated.

Meantime a statement from the Tanko Beji media office says “The atmosphere was largely very peaceful and delegates were seen in groups dancing, chanting slogans. Before vehicles identifiable from Governor Babangida Aliyu’s residence emerged and evacuate the electoral officers.

The statement added that “The delegates who were all on ground and ready to vote were taken aback when at about 3:15 vehicles identified from residence of former Governor Babangida Aliyu emerged to evacuate the Electoral officers from the venue to an unknown place”
