Niger State House of Assembly’s information Committee Chairman has refuted the allegations of theft in the accounts office. He declared this on Thursday 15th, October to Assembly’s correspondent.
The Chairman denied any of such happenings in a signed statement, he said: “The Niger state house of Assembly has noted with concern, information trending on the social media that over 11 million naira belonging to the house had been stolen by unknown persons recently. We therefore wish to place on record that no official money belonging to the house was stolen, rather theives broke into the accounts department of the house and made away with money belonging to individuals who had given it out for safe keeping. While the matter is now before the court, the house would do everything possible in conjunction with relevant authorities to ensure that the money is recovered”.
It will be recalled that on the 2nd of October the total sum of 11 million was said to missing from the accounts office. The account officer alongside four others where taken in for interrogations and later arraigned in court where the account officer was granted bail on basis of him not been around.
All calls placed to the chairman house committee on Information by Nigerwatch Newspaper was not answered as of the time of writing this report.
