The Niger state house of Assembly committee on the proposed SUKUK bond funds has deliberated with stakeholders.
The meeting which was chaired by the member representing Paikoro LGA, Hon. Abdulmalik Kabir, had representation from Ministry of finance, Public private partnership agency, Ministry of health, Ministry of solid Mineral resources, Ministry of water resources and Ministry of works and transport.
Speaking, the commissioner finance, Mr. Zakari Abubakar said only 10 billion Naira in the first tranch will be accessed the balance would be accessed later. He further said that the sukuk bond is not cash but based on a plan and tied to projects.
Also speaking the commisioner for Solid mineral, Mrs Ramatu Yar’dua said, the ministry will set up mining city consisting of 20-30 hectares of land in katerereg, Katcha LGA, Tegina in Rafi LGA, and also mining supply scheme, laboratory and certification and training centre.
Also the ministry of works and transport represented by the commisioner, Mr. Ibrahim Balarabe, said the Ministry has identified 5 nos of roads in Tunga axis of Minna to fixed, but there was challenge of funding which necessitated the sukuk bond. When asked about the Bida to Minna road, Mr. Balarabe said the road is already been funded by the state.
The committee then ordered all affected ministries and agencies to make available their detailed presentation for onward submission to the whole house.
