In 1999 North brought Obasanjo to appease the south- Bauchi Gov.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has said that the North brought former President Obasanjo to appease the Southern part of Nigeria.

Bala made the statement in Minna, the capital of Niger state when he visited the state to interact with delegates of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, over his presidential ambition.

Governor Bala Mohammed Said “In 1999 the North championed the course of reconciliation by bringing in one of the best; that is President Olusegun Obasanjo, after the denial or whatever, that has really occurred of the candidature of Abiola to appease the south”

Governor Bala added that he is a pan-Nigerian who does not see geography or religion as sentiments for his ambition to be president of Nigeria.

The Governor said that the APC must zone its Presidency to the South because President Buhari from the North is serving out 8 years under the APC, while the North had only 2 years, the south had 14 years under the PDP. But the APC is planning another thing, he added.

Responding, Leader of the Party in Niger State, Senator Zaynab Kure thanked Gov. Bala Mohammed for coming to Niger and for being a gender sensitive Governor.

In his remark, Niger state Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, Bar Tanko Beji said, all the aspirants will be placed on a scale and from all of them the delegates from Niger state will choose one. “When we come to consider all the issues, we will consider those that have made their presence in Minna” Beji said.

He then thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for visiting the state and his support for the party.
