Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has said he was not at the All progressives party National convention because his faction of the party was not recognized, Kwankwaso made this known on his Twitter handle @kwankwasoRM.
He said “I wish to inform the leadership and the general public that we had wanted to be part of the convention but regrettably all the congresses that we conducted at the wards, LGs & State level were not recognized by the outgoing National Exco.
Kwankwaso added that chances were high, fight would have broken out if his group were at the venue
“Because there are high chances our presence could create embarrassments & friction similar or even worse than what occurred in Imo & Delta States pavilion during the convention. However, as the new EXCO settle to start the efforts of uniting the party we wish them the very best”
Kwankwaso then congratulated Mr. Oshiomhole for emerging chairman of the party at the convention on behalf of the faction he leads.
“The APC group in Kano which I am opportune to lead will like to congratulate and felicitate with the newly elected Chairman H.E Comrd. Adams Oshiomhole and his newly elected Exco.
Kwankwaso was reported to be at a meeting with former vice President Atiku Abubakar who is a presidential aspirant on the opposition PDP, as at the time the convention was on its way.
Kwankwaso is a member of the breakaway nPDP that joined APC in 2013 to defeat the PDP in the 2015 election.
